I am a retired teacher, having worked for 40, mostly rewarding, years in primary, special and secondary schools. I have two grown up children and am a foster carer.  I have variety of interests including Tai Chi, walking, theatre, governors and enjoy craftwork.

I lived on the hill and was Chair of Governors at Woolwich Common Nursery School for many years. When the two schools were amalgamated, I transferred to the Governing body at Eglinton, where I became Chair of Governors.  I have been a Governor since 1984. I joined, and have remained on Governing Bodies because I enjoy seeing the difference a school can make to both the lives and self-esteem of children and to a community.  It is very rewarding to see a school make the progress we have witnessed at Eglinton.

I have taught for 42 years in Inner City London schools both in Tower Hamlets and Greenwich, and have worked across the Primary age range from Nursery to Year 6.  I became a Headteacher in February 1997 and have led and managed 3 primary schools in Greenwich – Nightingale, Charlton Manor and Eglinton.  In September 2014 I was appointed as Executive Headteacher in partnership between Eglinton Primary School and Early Years Centre and Notre Dame Catholic Primary School.  I was also an Ofsted Inspector for four years and took part in inspections in a range of schools.

I have very high expectations of the staff and children at Eglinton and am uncompromising in my desire to do the best for all of the children in the school. We have seen a huge change in the levels of attainment since I joined the school and the children aspire to do well.

I have a grown up family of two girls, and my interests out of school are a passion for travel, particularly across Africa, the Middle East and South America; and Chorale Music which I perform with the London Welsh Chorale on a regular basis having been a member for 33 years. This also gives me the opportunity to travel abroad to perform concerts, which I thoroughly enjoy.

I was born in the Woolwich Military hospital (since closed) and spent my early years growing up in the area around Eglinton.  In later years I returned to the area and have lived in both Whitworth Road and Eglinton Road.  My four children attended schools in the local area and I am now proud to be part of my grandchildren’s lives, sharing their educational journey.

I joined the teaching profession 22 years ago after experiencing a range of jobs in the property and retail markets.  I spent my teenage years working in and around Woolwich including time as a ‘silver service waitress’ at the Officers’ Mess at the Woolwich Barracks as well as at the first McDonalds in Woolwich!  I have spent my entire teaching career in Greenwich and have a very broad range of teaching experience.  I have worked at Boxgrove, Greenwood, Willow Dene and Discovery Primary Schools as well as working for the SENCO Support Project (now STEPS) supporting Inclusion throughout the borough and nationally.

I am committed to improving the lives of our children at Eglinton and ensuring they achieve the very best that they possibly can.  I value the importance of working with families and the local community to improve outcomes for our children and this is something I continually strive to do at every opportunity.  I find that I work at my best when faced with fresh and exciting challenges and this is something that Eglinton brings on a daily basis.

My approach to leadership is based on a pedagogical philosophy of taking a hands-on and enthusiastic attitude to teaching and creating a learning environment that embraces empathy, mutual support and inclusion of all pupils.  I have high expectations and strive to achieve teaching excellence throughout Eglinton.  Through our curriculum, the environment, our school diversity and relationships with parents, I aim to provide a nurturing environment, in which all children feel included and able to achieve in an enriching learning experience.  Eglinton is a place where local parents can feel confident about sending their children.  I feel proud to be part of Eglinton and this overall vision guides my current work, and will continue to do so.

I have been a secondary school teacher for over ten years and have experience of all aspects of the running of a successful school.  My interests are Guiding; outdoor activities like climbing and diving, and going to the theatre (if I have a babysitter!).

My children both love coming to Eglinton at the school and Children's Centre.  I want to take an active role in my children's education and as parent governor, I can monitor that the school is doing the best for all.

I was born in the N.E. of England and spent my formative years around Stockton On-Tees, in the County of Cleveland (now defunct, the area is known as Teesside).

This includes Computer Software, Internet Development and Training, Online Marketing (PPC and SEO), IT Services and currently Telecommunications.

I played rugby for 25 years and recently ran a Mini Rugby Club at Brockleians RFC for all ages from 5-12.

I have 15 years’ experience working in the post-16 education sector. I am currently a teacher of Travel and Tourism at an East London sixth form college. I am committed to providing high quality of education in a diverse and inclusive setting. I have lived in the area for 8 years and am interested in contributing to the local community. Eglinton School was the first choice for my children’s education because of the broad curriculum offer and the enthusiasm and ambition of the staff. I became a Governor in order to be involved in the development of the school in line with the needs of the local community and to ensure that the standard of education keeps improving.

I have been a teacher for ten years, six of which in London. I have taught across the capital for two years which enabled me to experience the wide variety of communities and teaching practises. I worked in schools in Lewisham, Elephant and Castle, Brixton, Tower Hamlets and South Kensington. Eglinton is the school I knew I wanted to stay with from my first day here.  I have been teaching here for four years and I am proud to build the school around the values it stands for.  I enjoy the proactive nature of our work and fostering and valuing of everyone’s initiatives.

I believe that education should open children’s wider horizons and develop them as people.

I have very high expectations of myself and the children I work with.  I aim to inspire them and spark their interest in the world around them.  I take active part in school life contributing in leading computing subject area, clubs and recently taking on a leadership role. I like to lead by example and strive for school experience to be one my students are looking forward to.

I joined the governing body in order to help the school community to grow as a whole.

I enjoy art, graphic design and all forms of electronic gadgetry in my spare time. My favourite show is QI.
