Training to Teach at Eglinton
At Eglinton we actively participate in the training of students who are engaging in a range of Initial Teacher Education courses.
We work in partnership with Goldsmiths University of London and the Halstow Cluster of Schools within the Royal Greenwich Teaching Schools Alliance (RGTSA) in order to provide training for PGCE students through the School Direct Programme. We support their professional development by providing school based training experiences at Eglinton for our students and others within the cluster.
We also work in partnership with the University of Greenwich to provide placements for Primary PGCE and BA Honours students. We also provide placements for students who were on Early Years Specialist Programmes; these students gain experience in N1, N2, Reception and Year 1 and also learn about how we support the smooth transition from the EYFS to KS1.
All teachers who have completed their NQT programme have engaged in Stage 1 Mentor training which has been provided through the University of Greenwich in order to effectively mentor Initial Teacher Training Students.
